File Mask: how to deselect ._123.jpg files

Post by linus » Wed Dec 03, 2014 2:30 pm

Hello

I would like to deselect files starting with the characters ._ Since there are several thousands restore candidates and because
those "invalid files" starting with ._ are mixed (one bad, one good, one bad) they cannot be marked manually that easily :-(

._123.jpg
123.jpg
._456.jpg
456.jpg
._789.jpg
789.jpg

I hoped with the following seetings in File Mask ()Deleted files and (x) Existing files everything would be fine, but that's not the
case.. probably because R-Studio does files starting with ._ not consider as deleted files :-(

Question:
What approach do you suggest in order not to restore files starting with the characters ._ ?

Thank's a lot!

Linus

In the Find and Mark dialog first select all *.jpg files and then deselect all ._*.jpg files. See more at R-Studio help: Searching for a File.

Thank's Alt

Ok, i (x) unmared mactched Files and entered ._*.jpg as a search-term, but nothing is going to be deselected :-(

Is ._*.jpg really the term to go, or am i doing something wrong?

Thank's!

Linus

That's me who's doing wrong. Those are deleted files on the Linux file system ext. On the find/mark dialog box, mark all jpg files with Deleted files cleared. Or unmark all jpg files with selected Deleted files and cleared Existing files.

Hi Alt

What you suggest dosent seem to work in my environment... RStudio does not consider ._123.jpg as deleted files :-(

Question:
Is there really no other way to mark or unmark all ._123.extension - files?

Your help is appreciated very much! Thank's!

I'll try to reproduce the problem in my Linux system.

Mea culpa, those are Mac (HFS) extended info files saved in the AppleDouble format. R-Studio will not recover them if you clear Recover alternative data streams on the Recover dialog box. Sorry for the trouble, ext3fs confused me.
