Online vs. Offline Image Question

Post by napoleon1815 » Wed Jan 26, 2011 2:03 pm

Hello! I prefer to do offline (boot from CD/USB) images for guraranteed disk access. Is there any limitation to doing this vs. a live image? I assume they are the same, but in some competing products you have less options with offline image. With StorageCraft, for example, you can't use their Hardware Independent Restore with an offline image. Thanks!

Frankly speaking, I don't quite get what "Online" and "Offline" images mean.

Sorry...

Offline image = boot system from CD and create an image that way (Windows offline)
Online image = from within Windows, run R-Drive and image while system is up

There may be problems with less-common hardware when working "off-line". The rest is the same.
Obviously, features connected with Windows like executing some applications before and after backup, and so on are not supported "offline".
