Success with Drobo recovery?

Post by spender » Mon Jan 26, 2009 9:05 pm

I was wondering if anyone had any success recovering data from drives connected to a Drobo using R-studio. I've got a 3 drive array of 1TB drives which were connected to the Drobo. The drives are perfectly fine, however for whatever reason, the Drobo isn't presenting the volume to me. I had a 1.8TB sized NTFS filesystem, which had about 40% usage or so. It seems like the Drobo was using some mix of mirroring and striping with parity, however I've tried a bunch of different settings for the virtual RAID5 configuration, and none seem to give me legitimate recovered data. When scanning individual drives, I was able to recover some images (some even 2MB in size).

So, has anyone had success? What settings did you use for the Virtual RAID5?

Thanks,
-Brad
