I don't think that the type of Mac OS matters in your case.
Please, be more specific on what you do. do you recover files using file enumeration (from the folder/file structure) or from Known File Types?

Mac recovery on a 10.4.11 system I am recovering from a snow leopard disk. Every file I try to recover it corrupt. Is there an issue with snow leopard? Should I use a snow leopard machine to recover files from a snow leopard drive?
