Indeed, this is impossible. The SMB/CSIF protocol cannot provide direct access to computer's hard drives. Without such access, recovery of deleted files is impossible.
R-Studio though does provide a mechanism for remote file recovery. See this article for details: http://www.r-tt.com/Articles/Data_Recov ... ndex.shtml
Moreover, if you have an admin account on the remote Windows machine, you may deploy R-Studio Agent remotely, from the computer where R-Studio Network is running.

It doesn't seem like it is possible, but it would be great if you could recover deleted files while connected thru SMB. Does anyone know how to do this?
