Indeed, this is impossible. The SMB/CSIF protocol cannot provide direct access to computer's hard drives. Without such access, recovery of deleted files is impossible.
R-Studio though does provide a mechanism for remote file recovery. See this article for details:

Moreover, if you have an admin account on the remote Windows machine, you may deploy R-Studio Agent remotely, from the computer where R-Studio Network is running.
