corruption and bitlocker, worth it to recommend purchase?

Post by Administratorte » Thu May 23, 2024 5:00 pm

Good Day.

A friend handed me an HP Elitebook x360 1040 G6, BIOS 01.27.00 is current. UEFI diags show both
memory and disk are OK.

After a crash, third partition is RAW.

Disk is an Intel HBRPEKNX0202AH. BIOS claims it's 512 GB.

I first used the free testdisk but it came up empty, claiming it could not read the MFT
for the second (MS reserved) and the main c: partition. From windows recovery, if
I try to access c:, I find it's under bitlocker control. The friend sent me the only key
she could find but when I tried to use it, manage-bde claimed it couldn't unlock the drive.

I then downloaded and booted R-studio emergency (thank you) in demo mode. It immediately
comes up with:

GPT tables error 0xda20

A scan doesn't bring up anything else. When I click to view the bitlocker partition, unsurprisingly
all I get is "drive is partly encrypted."

Is there any chance R-studio can help in this case?

Thank you for your time.

Cheers
