I have scanned my 4T external harddisk over 2 days but the completion percentage is only 1 percent. How long I need to wait for completion of scanning or it indicates my drive is not able to recover. My CPU is Core I5. Please advise.

It should be a problem caused by the plug-in of the USB port. You can connect the hard disk directly to the motherboard with the Stata cable, which should be much faster.

Does R-Studio throws some error warnings? Looks like your disk may be broken.

Yes, I did plug in the motherboard.

The following messages shown in the history session. sorry that it is in Chinese, but should be" system, 11/4/2019 6:53:22, trial 1 time, location 70245901312 read disk failure. information error (23)" the messages repeated every few seconds to minutes. the scanning is very slow, remain in 65.42G. it tooks 1 day to complete 0.2G.

Any suggestion? Thanks

Your disk is failing at reading some its part, that is why the scan is so slow. You'd better stop the scan. Further running the disk may result in complete disk failure rendering the data completely unrecoverable. You need to contact with a data recovery pro if you really want your data recovered.
