recovered files not working & file system errors

Using r-studio 5.3

2 things:
I have recovered an overwritten directory from my boot SSD. No warning about damaged files on recovery, but none of them work.
The files are .psp pallettes from adobe photoshop. Photoshop overwrote it's own settings folder when I rolled it back a version because it is a bug-ridden pile of poo.

1. Will an update to the most recent version of r-studio help. Is it any better at rcovering info from ssds (and video from sd cards - I've *never* got that to work successfully in 5.3)

2. Many file system errors in the r-studio history panel:
[field x] MFT record child's claimed parent mismatch, aborting

does this point to a disk problem? Samsung disk magician claims no errors but could be a file system not hardware error.

If the directory is overwritten, the content of its files is gone. Our article Recovery of Overwritten Data explains why. Please pay attention that your storage device is an SSD.

You may try that for free. Do not install the new version over the old one, or you'll lost your registration. Read this topic for more information: What to do if I don't know if R-Studio can recover my files?.

Because of the overwritten directory.
