I have a Western Digital MyBookLive 3tb network drive that 'forgot' its contents. It still showed in Windows that it contained 2.1 tb of 'something,' but showed the drive as empty in an Explorer window. I downloaded R-Linux and installed it, and after futzing around a bit, and mounting the physical drive in a dock, I got access to the files, and restored about 1.8 tb to a new external USB drive, including large video files, program files, and photos up to several mb.

Now, I know there are more files on the drive to recover, but after having rebooted Windows, when I run a scan on the drive, it turns up nothing. Am I doing something wrong, did I exhaust a trial, do I need to buy R-Studio? Disk Internals Linux Recovery finds about 170k files on the drive, but they don't have proper names or folders, and I don't want to spend several hundred dollars for their tool.

I cannot add up Windows, the disk, and R-Linux. What did happened? What is the file system on the disk?
