Hi,

I’m thinking about buying a license, specially the Technician License because i want to move it from one computer to the other if i buy a new PC.
I think it’s ridiculous that you have to buy a new license every time you move from one PC to the other, specially when you are the only/peronal user and i use both Mac and Windows.

Anyway, I can’t find info about the license period.

Is the Technician License per year, Or per version/build, or a one time lifetime license?
And how about the Mac and Windows version because there have different version numbers at the moment.
I think Windows is at build 8.3 at the moment and Mac at 6.5

If i buy a license right now, do i get a the version 9.x (Win)/ version 7.x (Mac) for free of is it better to wait a few months untill both operating systems started a new version?

Thanks in advance for al the help

Greetings from the Netherlands

The main feature of the Technician license is that it allows its users to perform commercial data recovery. So, if you're going to start a data recovery business, this is the only options. In addition, the Technician version has some features that aren't present in other versions, but non-professional users hardly ever need them. Given its price and the fact that buying a new PC isn't a very frequent event, it's much more expedient to bargain a discount for moving an already purchased R-Studio to another machine rather to buy a Technician version.

R-Studio for Windows can recover data from other platforms, like Mac or Linux. It may require some additional steps to do that, but still it's not hard to do. At least, the Network version may be the best option: R-Studio: Data Recovery over Network.

All licenses are perpetual. Once installed and registered, R-Studio can be used until the end of its host machine. One year is the time of free updates and upgrades, regardless of the Version number installed, be it small bugfix updates or major version upgrades. Then this time may be extended at a lower price.

Difference in version numbers of R-Studio for Windows, for Mac, and for Linux reflects only their version history. Usually, they have the same features, although R-Studio for Windows tends to be slightly ahead.
