Recovering Specialized File Types

Post by SquirrelKing » Sun Feb 21, 2021 5:17 pm

Hello,

I am currently in the process of recovering a formatted HFS+ disc. Nothing was overwritten, so much of the data appears to still be accessible. While disk recovery has worked well for me, it seems to be missing some particular files (or perhaps they are completely gone). In particular I am searching for Python .npy files, and Obspy .mseed files. As these are specialized file types, I am unsure of how to add them to the Known File Types list.

Does anyone have advice on how to start? I looked through the documentation, but feel particularly stuck when it comes to adding signatures and subgroups. Would there be a way to check an existing npy or mseed file to find this information? Any advice is appreciated!

-Sincerely, Jesse
