If this problem is still actual for you, try our new R-Studio . If you have a Technician license, then go to your Registered User console for the new build.
And the following Known File Types description file:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FileTypeList>
<FileType id="128" group="Multimedia Video" description="Sony cam video, XDCam-EX " extension="mp4">
<Signature>\x00\x00\x00\x18ftypmp42\x00\x00\x00\x00mp42\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x00\x08free</Signature>
<Signature from="end" offset="21">\x3C\x2FNonRealTimeMeta\x3E\x0D\x0A\x00</Signature>
</FileType>
</FileTypeList>

I also have a similar problem. My camera is a Sony Handycam HDR-CX150E that I am trying to recover the files from. However, R-Studio doesn't seem to recognise the files. I think I need to set a custom file type.
Where can I send some sample files to get a new filetype definition created.

You may read our new article Creating a Custom Known File Type for R-Studio if you want to create a description file yourself.
Or you may send me several (4 the best) short (a couple of seconds) files to raptorbck (at) gmail (dot) com.

Thanks for the response. I was able to create the file definition but it seems that the mts files from sony don't have an end signature or at least I can't seem to find any. This means that the recovered files seem to unreasonably large. R-Studio recovered over 1000 files and each file was around 1.5 GB in size (all this from an image that is 15GB). I'm not sure if there is anything else to try.

Anyway, the following is the file definition I used for the Sony HDR-CX150E if anyone else needs it.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<FileTypeList>
<FileType id="1416" group="Multimedia Video" description="Sony HD files" extension="mts">
<Signature offset="4" from="begin">\x47\x40\x00\x10\x00\x00\xb0\x11\x00\x00\xc1\x00</Signature>
<Signature offset="16" from="begin">\x00\x00\x00\xe0\x1f\x00\x01\xe1\x00\x23\x5a\xab\x82</Signature>
</FileType>
</FileTypeList>

Fsd093Kjuqbw: Hello all, guys

Does anyone have any xml files from a Panasonic AG-HMC150 camcorder?

I accidentally deleted a blue-ray that had files of this type and I can not recall them.

I've made my own xml according to the manual, but I did not find anything with r-studio.

This is the xml that I have made:

<? xml version = "1.0" encoding = "utf-8"?>
<FileTypeList>
Id="5318" <FileType group="Multimedia Video" description="Panasonic AG-HMC150 HD Video" extension="mts">
<Signature> \ X00 \ x00 \ x00 \ x00G @ \ x00 \ x10 \ x00 \ x00Â ° \ x11 \ x00 \ x01Ã \ x00 \ x00 \ x00 \ x00Ã \ x1F \ x00 \ x01Ã \ x00 $ Â ¬ € ž Hâ </ Signature>
X05 \ x00 \ x1F \ x00 ^? AOEC </ Signature>
<Signature From="end"> \ xG \ x1FÃ ¿\ x10 </ Signature>
</ FileType>
</ FileTypeList>

Thank you very much to all :)

I see strange characters like @ and  ° in the signature. Better use their hex codes.
If you can create several (4 preferable) small files of that type ans send them to me, I can look at them and try to create the description file.
