HD Scan

Post by bflavor9 » Thu Aug 08, 2013 3:21 am

Hello,

I received a CRC error on my HD before it crashed and was able to back up a small portion of the files. The total size of the HD is 640GB and the total partition of the C: drive was about 585GB. I started the scan Tuesday evening and it has now been running for 25 hours. The scan is at 64% moving at a snail's pace. The first 58% of the scan went relatively quick probably a couple hours or so, however my computer went into sleep mode and after resuming it has been going super slow. I am not using the computer for anything else. Therefore my question is, did the computer going into sleep mode trigger something in the scan that has made it so slow or is the scan just running its course? Wondering whether stopping the scan, and starting over would be a good idea.

Thanks!

I'd save the scan info just for case, and start creating the image and scanning the disk simultaneously disabling computer sleep. And do all the rest of file recovery work from the image.

This is my first time running this program. Can you give me a basic outline on how to create the image and run the remainder of the recovery from the image?

This topic in the on-line help describes how to create an image with simultaneous scan: Images.
And this one describes the process of data recovery: Data Recovery Using R-Studio.
The same topics exist in the help built into the program.
