pgp whole disk encryption

My laptop disk is encrypted using pgp whole disk encryption. Is there an alternative to a backup of the entire disk as encrypted data ? I do not see mention of pgp in the users manual. Are there plans to support pgp disk encryption ?

The problem is that now pgp isn't an open source software anymore. And they surely won't give us access to their source code. So it'll be hard to implement support for pgp disk encryption.
Moreover, restoring an encrypted system disk will be a very unreliable task.
