R-Wipe&Clean 20 Observations

Post by stardust » Tue Nov 20, 2018 7:18 am

The link on https://www.r-wipe.com/Disk_Cleaning_Download.shtml
...that nominally references "Version: 20.0 build 2212" points to a forum post that shows the latest as "R-Wipe&Clean 11.10 build 2189 Wed Feb 14, 2018":
viewtopic.php?t=8141

I also downloaded and installed from RWipeAndClean20.exe and yet when I ran it, the About box showed "Version 11.10 (Build: 2189)". I found that was because setup didn't detect the old version, and its default installation directory differs from the old one on account of not having spaces (i.e. "R-Wipe & Clean" rather than "R-Wipe&Clean").

I reinstalled over the old installation. In my opinion, setup should at least notice the old version, and tell me what my options are for installing the new version (i.e. over the old one, alongside the old one, etc.).

It seems that wipe lists from the prior version cannot be imported. I have to manually recreate lists with hundreds upon hundreds of items on them? Really?

Corrected.

I've passed your questions to our developers.

Not exactly. You may import them during an installation of a new build or manually.
To do that manually:
1. Run RWC Smart.
2. Click the Advanced -> Import Wipe List button and go to the C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\R-Wipe&Clean folder.
Those files have the *.ls2 extension.
This is a hidden folder and you need to enable showing hidden folders in the File Explorer. Control panel->folder options->View tab, Show hidden files and folders.

Thanks. I ended up figuring it out. Although as I mentioned, during the first upgrade installation, the installer didn't even detect that I had RWC installed already.

I've sent this to our developers.
Thanks for reporting.
