19 HOURS Down the Drain

2 TB raid 5 HP MSA20 SCSI attached.
Ran scan, got all the way to the end and looked like it was doing nothing. Checked perfmon, confirmed no read/write activity for 30 minutes. Tried to stop job, would not stop. Waited longer, still wouldn't stop. Stopped R-Studio (127531) via task manager. Went back in and it didn't keep the scan data.
19 hours down the drain.

What is the system specs? Maybe, not enough memory? Or SCSI controller problems?

During the scan, the RU-Bin process was using 100,000K to 300,000K. Total used on the whole system during that time was 900 meg of 2 Gig physical available.
The original issue was the bbwc on the controller failed and it wrote bad data to the drives. This somehow messed up the partition (this is what Microsoft stated on my 6 hour call to them). Drive in question was a dynamic GPT disk, raid 5 2tb. There is another partion on the MSA 20 that was not touched and it is funtioning properly.
Secondary array controller is an HP 642 with 64meg onboard. I cannot tell you what the controller is inside of the MSA 20, however, the accellerator batteries are the ones that have failed insided the msa 20.
I think it would be a good programming change on your part to have it save the *.scn file automatically to a directory. I "missed" this step in my initial setup of the full scan. I have since enabled the *.scn file on the desktop. I am doing a basic scan and the .scn file is currently sitting at 600meg with about 70% done scanning.

This time the scan runs fine, but the system hangs on the "analying recognized partitions" portion. I have to close the program and it does not save the data.
Luckily I have the .scn file. What to do?

Please compress the file and send it to me. I'll pass it to our developers to analyze it and to solve the problem.

Ok do let me konw ..
i see no activity accross the system drive, memory, or ohterwise so looks like a hung processing thread but i ahven't attached a debugger yet.

oh in my case, this is a 1tb data drive in non-raid configuration. it has 650gb of data on it ..
