Raid 5 broken

Post by claudio74 » Thu Feb 22, 2018 4:31 pm

Hello
I have a qnap with 4 hd in raid 5
After the replacement of a broken disk the qnap, at the end of the reconstruction of the disk, has restarted losing both the fixed ip and the raid. I rebuilt the raid with r-studio that actually sees all the folders and data, but unfortunately only download corrupt data, why?
what other techniques can I use?

How did you find RAID's parameters?

If it was part of a failed rebuild, I'd suggest you go back and get a clean clone of the original failed drive and work with that instead of the failed rebuild. It's likely that the rebuilt drive is still largely just blank, so you're getting blank stripes in each file.

Also, it could be that your RAID settings aren't correct.

To my understanding, if this is a RAID5 of 4 disks with one degraded, the rest 3 ones should be sufficient to recover the files. Just add one missing disk object to the virtual RAID in R-Studio.
