Bare Metal Recover

Post by gilbertli » Thu Sep 24, 2009 11:07 pm

Is it possible to restore drive image to a totally difference PC ?
Say backup a P4 running windows 2003 server standard to a Xeon Server ?
Right now I have to use a txt file to describe my backup image file of my PC.
Is there a way for the R- Drive Image program to automtically capture the PC hardware Info and time of copy etc in conjunction with the image file of the PC ?

1. Most likely the system won't start due to lack of necessary hardware drivers. Plus there may be problems with Windows activation.
2. I think the best was for you is to make a hardware description file one time and use a computer-specific file name for images.
