Recover Illustrator files

I'm having a hard time getting User file types to work with the xml file I created.

<FileType id="5256" group="Graphics" description="Illustrator Graphic file" extension="ai">
<Begin>
<Signature count="1">%!PS-Adobe-3.1\x20EPSF</Signature>
</Begin>
<End>
</FileType>
</FileTypeList>

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to have a couple of SMALL (really small) those files.
