Is there a way to copy disks to dissimilar disk geometries?
Belatedly, I discovered my brand new Dell laptop installed the OS to the 1TB hybrid, and left the 256GB SSD as my "spare".
The sum total of all the partitions on the 1TB are well below 256GB, but my attempts to restore and/or disk-copy to the SSD are failing.
And, whether it's because it's Windows 8.1 or not, there are a lot more 'required' partitions than there ever used to be
See attached for the partitions list, sizes and/or descriptions.

Re: *Copy* to dissimilar hardware?
What actually happens when you try to copy your system partitions to the SSD? R-Drive Image doesn't work? Or the system cannot start?
Re: *Copy* to dissimilar hardware?
I get a (not verbatim) "not enough space on destination drive" message.
Because time was of the essence, I discovered I was able to accomplish what I needed with Macrium Reflect Free. It too gave me the same error, but I was able to uncheck the unused space placeholder and voila! In business very quickly.

The same option exists in R-Drive Image, too.
