R-Stdio vs file carving based recovery-tools

Post by joseph » Wed Nov 05, 2014 12:07 pm

Hello

I tested other regex-based file carving recovery tools(header/footers) and I am surprised how much faster R-Studio does work...

Is R-Studio not really a filecarving-recovery tool ?

Thank you!

Joseph

R-Studio isn't a "file-carving" recovery tool, and never has been claimed as such. File-carving recovery tools attempt to re-assemble fragmented files. R-Studio doesn't do that. If a file is fragmented, R-Studio can't recover it. That's why there's difference in speed.
