Create startup disk

Post by fretei » Thu Dec 03, 2009 2:00 pm

Hi.
Just got a apache 500gb usb drive,
created 2 partitions, one with fat32 (5GB) and the rest on a NTFS part.
The idea was to create a startup disk on the fat32 part, and use the rest for image handling use large files witch need ntfs
When starting r-drive image, none of the drives show up , had hoped the fat32 drive would be avail. for startup files.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem ??

Windows does not treat external USB HDDs as regular devices with removable media. That is why R-Drive Image does not show them on its list of removable devices.
As a workaround, you may use a small (and inexpensive) USB flash drive (256 MB is more than enough) to create an R-Drive Image startup disk. Almost all computers have more that one USB connector, so you may connect the USB HDD with disk image files to another one. I use this configuration.
