R-drive Trial ver. is so slow...................

Post by fungus » Thu Nov 19, 2009 10:39 pm

Help:

I just installed the trial version of R-drive 4.6 on a Win 2000 sp4 machine to test R drive. I'm looking for a replacement for Acronis.

Right now I'm doing a Windows image of my C drive to a different partition on the same drive as C, my system. It is going so slow that I'll fall asleep.

The C partition contains 8 GB of data. I'm backing up "actual data only".

Acronis, TODO, and Terabyte imaging all create this same backup in less than 10 minutes.

What am I doing wrong? Is the trial version crippled to slow it down?

The R-drive "Processing" screen says "estimated time is 1 hour and 11 minutes". How long will a 40 GB image take?

Please help.

It finished backing up 8.3 GB in 28 minutes. That is 0.296 GB per minute.

Honestly, the free Todo from Easeus did it more than 3 times as fast.

R-Disk looks great, can I get it to run a little faster?

Note: I backed up in the normal fast mode, not a high compression setting.

I decided to do a verify, from Win.
It soon errored with a "file corrupt 3400", I ran it again and got another one the same.

This is the same drive where I have tested other image software without errors. Is the error related to the very slow backup?

Most likely this is a problem with the memory.
Will it be such slow if you try to create a non-compressed image?

I have the demo version installed on a Vista 64bit Dual CPU with 4Gb or RAM and it took 47min to create an image on a 11.8 Gb partition. I am sure it should not be this slow Thoughts ? I backed it up to a network drive on a Gb network.
