Recovering ext4 files using Win 7

Post by billbar » Sat May 29, 2010 1:34 pm

I have downloaded the free linux version of R-TT software.
Read several warnings about recovering data on the same disk.
My disk is 250G.
104G - Win 7
23G - unallocated
24G - Linux
82G - Free space.

The linux files I would recover are within the free space and, as I recall, are about 22G. That space has not been used since an accidental delete
and will include files that are simply abandoned and some deleted. There is adequate space in the Win partition for this data. I would then use
a flash drive to transfer and convert to linux format.
Will this plan work given the clean separation between the two operating environments?
Appreciate your guidance.
Bill

I see no reasons why there should be problems with data recovery in your case. You cannot save recovered files to the same LOGICAL disk (partition) where they reside, but you can safely save recovered files to another logical disk (partition) on the same hard drive.
