freenas,jbod,raw file

registered user latest version

freenas, jbod, raw recovery, winzip v15.0 files

trying to recover zip files all zip files version winzip 15.0 and tested

jbod array one of four hd crashed

about 750g of data all zipped and tested previously via winzip command line tool

your app makes reference to zip files but not winzip files

what is the exact winzip signature to use

recovery via "Extra Search for Known File Types" does not allow recovered zip files to be unzipped

also using "Ontrack Easy Recovery" produces same result zip files not recognized can not be unzipped

btw all zip files were zipped legazy mode

drives have not been formated and i am in the process to create drive image

no other drive errors have been noted

i was under the impression that the world was using winzip hence the entire backup is produced via winzip.

if this is false what is the recommended compression app to use since your help file/pdf makes no reference to it

thanks in advance

I'll test how R-Studio searches for winzip files tomorrow. OK?

I tested winzip files, and R-Studio finds them normally.
Maybe, you files are corrupted or fragmented.

thanks for the followup
after testing 25 apps yours performed well,
never was able to restore data, since you did not answered my question i can only assume there is none.
we will switch to zip7 since you explicitly have that type listed for recovery hence my signature question

question: you mentioned fragmented my thoughts of compressing files was to avoid having them scattered
across the drive, if this is not the case what compression program will not allow dissimiarly of the compressed data file

Windows itself fragments files when they are being written, not a program.
Maybe, you can create several small files of the type you use and send them to me? I'll create a known file type description file, test it, and you'll be able to recover your files.
