R-Studio suggestion

Post by drc » Mon Mar 14, 2011 3:46 pm

Hello,

In R-Studio it would be very helpful to add a "Max LBA" button to the Create Region dialog box. Frequently when creating a region I want to start it at a given LBA and go to the end of the drive. With the current dialog box it is necessary to look up the max LBA and then calculate max LBA minus start LBA to give the remaining LBA, which is a tedious extra step. If there was a button that would automatically extend the region to the max LBA (or even just do the calculation itself and fill it in the box) that would be very helpful.

Thanks for a great product.

Yes, we'll add the Maximum LBA to the Properties tab for an HDD.
Thank you for the suggestion.

Even easier would be a button on the "Create Region" popup box to automatically fill to the end of the drive. It currently shows Disk Size in sectors, and then you fill in "Region Start" and "Region Size". Rather than having to subtract Region Start from Disk Size to find the Region Size (assuming your desired region goes to the end of the disk, which it usually does), adding a "fill to end" or "max LBA" button that would automatically calculate how many sectors it would take to include the whole rest of the disk would be very convenient.

Actually, people most often create relatively small regions at the beginning of the disk to quickly scan for lost partitions.
But we'll think about such button.
