I have a number of SAS disks (Seagate ST3450856SS, 3 GBs, 450 GB) on LSI SAS2 2116 non-RAID card.
One of these disks is the boot drive.
It is about half full (200 GB), where pagefile.sys is 50 GB --so, effectively we need to copy less than 150 GB.
When I tried using R-Drive Image (v4.7b4726) to copy a copy of this boot drive to another one (as a full disk backup) on the same controller, RDI reports it will take more than 5 hours.
BTW, I did let it run for about an hour and the time estimate didn't change significantly.
Now.. If RDI copies 150 GB in 5 hours (5 * 3600 = 18,000 seconds), it means 8.5 MegaBytes/second.
This is slow by any definition, IMO; after all, the machine I am trying to do this is by no means resource challenged:
CPU: 2 x X5680 3.33 GHz (12 cores total)
RAM: 48 GB
OS: Windows 7 SP1, x64
ST3450856SS: Minimum (typical) sustainable disk transfer rate 109 MB/s.
Could someone shed some light on this please.

Theoretically I'd go through whatever is necessary to improve a product, but I cannot afford hours to tweak and experiment with this machine.
Plus, I used a competitive product (*) which did do the job in under 50 minutes.
(*: I am not sure if I am allowed to mention a competing product here, so I am adding it as a footnote you can delete this if you like: It is Acronis True Image Home.)
Re: R-Drive Image Excruciatingly slow (v4.7b4726)
Now hours are needed. Just try to disable all snapshot providers on the Backup Options panel and see what'll happen.
