I am trying to run R-Studio on a disk which seems to have lost its partition information and I am getting the error
Read disk Maxtor 6L300R0 BAH41G10 at position 0 failed after 1 attempts. The device is not ready (21)
Read disk Maxtor 6L300R0 BAH41G10 at position 8192 failed after 1 attempts. The device is not ready (21)
Read disk Maxtor 6L300R0 BAH41G10 at position 8192 failed. Scan process terminated.
I've tried Googling, looking on this forum here, using the site search and checking the FAQ.
The drive is NOT initialised and is connected by USB adaptor.
Device not ready?
Re: Device not ready?
This means that either the HDD or the USB adapter is malfunctioning. If any other disk is seen normally through the adapter, the problem is with the disk. Better bring it to a data recovery pro how has experience in working with malfunctioning disks.

Re: Device not ready?
The drive is still detecting as having a size, so that is good (hopefully) but it's unable to read sectors.
Just out of curiocity, is the drive showing correct capacity in BIOS and/or Disk Management? Or is it showing some small capacity like 3.18Gb?
