Sorry if this has been posted before or it was in the documentation for the product.

I would like to make a bare metal backup of my Dell XPS M1530 laptop running Vista Business 64 bit to a SATA drive in a Thermaltake's BlacX HDD Docking Station connected via USB port.

Once I make the backup I will install Windows 7 on the machine and if it doesn't run well I will need to restore it back to the vista image. From what I've read I should be able to make a startup CD of drive image and boot off of that and make an image of the drive. If I have issues with Win7 I will be able to boot off of the CD and restore the machine back to Vista.

Thanks for any suggestions that you might have.
