Recognized folder question...

Wifes external USB HDD was quick formatted by mistake I can recover the files but we're talking upwards of 300gigs plus multiple files types. Is there a way of recovering the file types needed from multiple "Recognized" directories? It's pretty painful doing each one by one. Any help be appreciated.
