For anyone else having the same problems...
I gave up and installed Ubuntu instead. R-studio now runs.

Problems installing on Debian Stretch

by --Matt-- » Sat Mar 18, 2017 3:30 pm

I am attempting to install R-studio for the first time in order to try out the raid recovery (hopefully it can help me get back some of my data).

I seem to be failing at the first hurdle.

I have downloaded the 64bit version and installed it with dpkg -i. There were no error reports.
When I try to run the program it prompts for the root password and then pops up a license agreement box. However, the box is completely blank and does nothing. If I close this window another small window pops up that is also blank. No buttons, nothing. It just doesn't seem to work at all.

What am I doing wrong? Or is there a problem with the current released version on Stretch?

Cheers,
Matt
