I'd recommend you to use R-Photo. It's free, and it shows only image and video files. You may use its build-in file viewer and tiles for pictures to estimate chances for file recovery.
Its help: R-Photo help.

help recovering old images

Hello,

First of all, i am loving the program. I do have a problem. I have an old hard drive from when i was younger. At the time i didnt think pictures i took important, now i would love to have them. Sadly hard drive has no partitions. What i did so far is scan the drive. And then i looked under known file types and choose jpeg and jpeg digital. I did recover some files but many are missing. Does this find all files on drive, going under known file types ? Or should i click on every individual "recognised" it finds and click open drive files sorted by and select images ? What else can i do ? I do understand that there is a chance that files are lost forever, but before i throw this hard drive away, i would really like to do every single thing i can to recover those files. What is the correct procedure to recover every single file possible ?
