As I understand, an img file is a raw data of an object. You can convert it into any file format R-Studio supports. Open the file as an image, right-click it, select Create image, and select the image type you want to create. The R-Studio should be Technician/T80+ to create images other than dsk or rdi. You may read more about image format R-Studio supports and their features in its on-line help : Supported Virtual Disk and Disk Image Formats..
Moreover, you may want to connect the original image using R-Studio: Images (page bottom).

I've imaged a HDD, with my Rapidspar, a couple of years ago for a client and i would like to know If it's possible to convert the img file into a VMDK file. The hdd didn't have any logical or physical issue what so ever. It was hit by a ransomware and today I checked if it was decrypt-able. The file format of the encrypted files is *.Got.iS

So how could I convert the img file to VMDK? my current R-Studio version is
