Disk Management - Disk Requires Initialization

Hi. I downloaded the demo version as I wanted to use R-Studio to recover data from my ReadyNAS NV+ that I got in 2008. The NAS had 4 drives in it and I transferred them into a HD enclosure to connect to my laptop.

When I load Disk Management, however, I get a popup message for one of the drives saying that it needs to be initialized before Disk Management can access it. What does this mean and should I proceed to run the R-Studio scan?
