Thunderbird email data files

by billmeek » Fri Dec 17, 2010 12:17 am

From my limited exposure to R-Studio I've found that Mozilla Mail Summary File (.msf) is a 'known file type' in R-Studio although it's only an index of the mail. Since Thunderbird is capable of recreating the summary file as needed, it's not a very useful file type. MBOX files (no extension) are where the actual email data is stored and are not a defined file type in R-Studio. The MBOX files and the address book are the Thunderbird files most likely needing to be recovered in the event of a hard disk crash.

Has anyone created a signature description for Thunderbird MBOX files? Should this not be predefined within R-Studio rather than summary files that are of limited value?
