That surely is not connected with the fact that R-Studio is in its Demo mode.
Can you see the USB drive on the Drives pane on the Main panel of R-Studio?
If not, please connect our tech support with this problem.
If yes, what file system is on the USB drive? If NTFS, has the USB drive been previously disconnected properly, using the Safely Remove Hardware icon on the system tray?

On my laptop I have a bad internal drive that is damaged, so I believe I should create an image of my bad drive.

I am trying to create my image to an external USB hard drive in R-Studio Emergency GUI, but I it looks like I can only create the image to the local drive or to the DVD/CD. Anyone know how I can create my image to the external drive? Is this limitation due to the product being a demo version?
