If you tried R-Studio's RAID parameter detection unsuccessfully, the only way to help the situation is to go to a professional data recovery specialist, I'm afraid.

He only mixed the order of the drives. He did not rebuild raid.

What actually did he do with the disk? Only swapping or RAID rebuilding?

Hi guys

Background:
I have been goggling around and could not find what i needed.

My current predicament is that I am recovering a raid 5 disks, whose controller just seemed to have died on me. To make matters worse, my colleague in all his wisdom hoped that by swapping the disk around it would fix the problem. yah...

Problem:
So i have 5 drives that of which i dont know the order. However by manual hex inspection and the assistance of (http://www.r-tt.com/Articles/Finding_RAID_parameters/) i have eliminated disk no5 as the spare.

But i still cannot deduce the rest of the parameters, since this was a secondary drive it does not have a MBR, it is a NTFS. ( using "Boot sector NTFS pattern")

the problem is that by following the above link it say that

so I need to ask what is the other technique. since all the "FILE" I have are with an *.

PS: I also did use "Reclaime" in the hopes that it would assist. Which it sadly did not.
