Re: R-Studio 8.14.179675

The file masking by file size is completely broken in October version.
All mini updates didn't help.

Re: Help Needed with Drobo Recovery

I don't think so. But, your best bet might be to seek professional recovery. BeyondRAID is a bit complex (though not "thousands of different RAIDs" as one post tried to suggest).

Re: Help Needed with Drobo Recovery

Unfortunately, R-Studio, or any other file recovery software would not be able to help with this case.
The only case it could work is if you had a DAS model (not NAS), and something happened with the file system on it.

In your case it's a NAS, and you have no access to the actual volume (ExtFS) on ...

Re: Find out Raid Parameters manually (Qnap Raid5)

1. did you save the scan results before the enumeration attempt?
if not - it's a good thing to do, then you don't need to re-scan next time, just to load it.

2. check your memory settings in r-studio (tools-settings-memory usage), and switch it to automatic with 90% of physical memory.

3. if you ...

Re: Raid50 on Dell Equallogic PS4100E

They're quite complex and require custom software (as in actually customized for each case).

I agree on complexity, but if software is written correctly, then you don't need to customize it for every case, as long as it's the same SAN breed.
All that requires a lot of R&D, and I doubt it would ...

Re: Find out Raid Parameters manually (Qnap Raid5)

if you assembled the raid as was shown on the screenshot, then it's wrong because you started from 0, when with MD raids you need to start from some offset.

from the last post it seems that the MD partition is this - /dev/sda3 133 243138 1951945693 83 Linux
which starts from sector 243138.
but then ...

Re: Find out Raid Parameters manually (Qnap Raid5)

Mr. Alt is correct.

Your box had ExtFS file system. Regular undelete is not possible there due to the way how FS cleans its metadata during deletion (manual undelete might be possible on Ext4, but this is not the case here).

So you can only do RAW, and only in case if R-Studio supports indirect ...

Re: Find out Raid Parameters manually (Qnap Raid5)

all QNAP boxes I've seen used Linux MD raid with LVM2 on it, so that should be straightforward.

but be aware that some QNAP models now use SAN-like allocation for volumes, which means that even assembled raid would no give you access to the data. also the latest QNAP FW versions added tiering to ...

Re: Raid50 on Dell Equallogic PS4100E

I guess it's too late, but just to clarify.

Dell EqualLogic boxes are true SANs, i.e. all data is slices by blocks and spread across the whole raid.
you can't assemble the volume w/o parsing that SAN metadata, which is not supported by any commercial software.

I know only 3 DR company who really ...

R-Studio forces Win7 to reboot

checking if other readers have experienced something like this.

We've seen at least 20 cases with such behavior.
At some point during data extraction (not repeatable, different files all the time), Windows 7 pops up a dialog saying something like "windows has experiences critical error and needs to ...
