The advice re cloning the failing drive before commencing is obviously solid.
A bit of a summary of the scans:
Scan 1: All 5 of the 5 disk array present. One of the disks had errors. Most of the file system was available. I think some of the items with red crosses were actually deleted files etc ...

One thought I had was that I need to do a scan before it will let the 'reverse raid' the disk level. Does anyone know if this is required?
