I'd like r-drive to send me email notifications to my gmail account about the result of a backup task.
Does anyone know what the email notification settings should be, like server, Port, SSL, and sender?
Many thanks!

Re: how to setup email notifications
An example of these settings is shown on the Create a Task page (Notification options) in the R-Drive Image online help.

Do those settings shown on that page work?
I know what fields need to be filled in, but I don't know what specify server, etc to use.

You must specify your own data, your own server, users, etc.gkurtenbach wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 10:41 amI know what fields need to be filled in, but I don't know what specify server, etc to use.

Re: how to setup email notifications
Here's how to set up r-drive image to send mail to a gmail account when a task completes.
For a task, under options->Notifications
Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
SSL: Auto
Sender: R-Drive Image 7.2 <freddy@gmail.com> (use your gmail user id not "freddy")
Recipient list: freddy@gmail.com
Custom Subject: Backup Status
Send mail when: Error occurred, Successful completion checked on
Authorization (checked on)
Login: freddy@gmail.com
Password: (not your google account password but an special "app password" you set up from your google account)
The tricky part is setting up the app password in your google account. Here's how to do that:
From a browser (like Chrome), when you are signed into your google account, go to this url:
https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords
From that page, create an app specific password for "R-Drive Image 7.2 <freddy@gmail.com>". It will generate a password for you to use. Put that password into the password file in r-drive image option->Notifications->Password described above.
Use the "Test email account" to verify if this works. The email will appear in gmail, from "me" (that's you!) and my gmail categorizes them as "not important" so you may want to mark them as important.
Good Luck!
