Backup task taking the incorrect source disk

Post by mohankrajan » Fri Apr 18, 2025 10:02 pm

My task backs up my C: system drive to Drive X.
I replaced my System Disk for a new SSD.
Now when the backup task ran, it incorrectly backed up another drive Y instead of the new C drive.
I had to delete the task and create a new Task.
Is this behaviour expected?
do i need to delete all backup tasks each time I change drive letters or change disks?

It is quite common to backup software to misidentify a drive if it identifies the drive by its old volume ID or name. When replacing a new SSD, even if you reassign the C letter, the software may still mistake it for a different drive.
