Deleted raid 5 disk array, any chance to recover data?

Post by Jinks32 » Wed Sep 25, 2019 11:10 am

Hello,

I've deleted a raid 5 array from a MSA2324fc, is there a way to recover the data? I didn't recreate the array after.

Thanks

You'll need to have direct access to each of the drives, bypassing the RAID controller, in read-only mode. Best practice would be for you to get a full sector-by-sector clone or image of each drive and then work with the copies. Then, assuming that the RAID had a file system supported by R-Studio, you throw in the RAID config into R-Studio and let it virtually reconstruct the array so that you can copy the data out to a new hard drive.

You'll need to know the drive order, the block size, offsets (particularly for any virtual RAIDs), parity order, parity size and parity delays.

You may also use ReclaiMe Free RAID Recovery to find RAID parameters.
