RAID5 recovery from a dead ReadyNAS

Post by jojo » Wed Dec 01, 2021 9:57 am

The ReadyNas failed after an extended power outage. It is not responsive at all.
It had 4 drives, and all 4 drives pass SMART tests and seem to function (no obvious clicking or strange noise).
I have them all connected to a windows box with R-Studio 8.17
I believe I have the Virtual Block RAID parent page configured correctly, as it shows 3 mdadm Protective Partitions plus some free space under it in the Device/Disk list. The free space is basically the size of 1 of the disks.
A scan for partitions cause a bunch more to appear, however, looking at the files on any them show partial files.
I'm not sure what is going on.

Can the file system be BTRFS on that free space? If yes, R-Studio doesn't currently support this file system, and scan for known file system is the only option.
