Restore to dissimilar hardware

Post by BassAddict_IT » Fri Jul 11, 2014 10:53 am

Hello,

I currently utilize R-Drive with a technician license, and one feature I think would be ideal to have included with the software is restoring windows (and Linux) images to dissimilar hardware. The business I work for has windows XP computers that can't be upgraded at the moment, and if components on the motherboard fail, then restoring the XP image to another computer is archaic because of hardware ties. I've found that I can restore to computers with chipsets in the same family, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to find such computers.

This would also be useful for Windows 7 and 8 computers, as well.

If this is a feature that could be added to the product, then this would be an ideal product for my personal use and recommendations.

Thank you,

The problems aren't with the software, a certain set of drivers and the stuff for a specific chipset, CPU, HDD, and activations issues would prevent such feature from being successful.
