R Studio scans hang
R Studio scans hang
I'm using R studio and each scan I run on various PC's (3) seems to hang within the last few mins of the scan. Progress bar shows 100% and mins left is usually just a few mins. Scan was left for a further 12-24 hours after this occurred and there was no change, what could it be?
The only way around this is to turn off the pc which corrupts the image process.

Re: R Studio scans hang
Is this the same disk, or those 3 systems had different disks? And what is the size of the disk(s)? Did R-Studio show bad SMART data for the disk(s)?
Re: R Studio scans hang
Meanwhile, a way around is to specify an area on the disk(s) to scan a little bit smaller than the disk, for R-Studio not to reach the problem area. If R-Studio hangs at the end of the disk, chances are small that there's something important on that disk area.
I believe that there are bad sectors at disk's end that cause the problem.

Re: R Studio scans hang
All different disks so far, some SSD's some HDD's.
SSd's vary but are usually 240GB.
Hdd's are 1TB.

I'd like to know what happens than the scan area is a little bit smaller that the disk size.FireBIade wrote:All different disks so far, some SSD's some HDD's.

And what is OS? And did that happen with previous versions, if any?
Re: R Studio scans hang
Reducing the size made 1 of the 3 pc's scan work OK (931.6GB reduced to 930.0GB), another one with the same size reduction also hung. I'm running r-studio from the emergency boot environment on PC's that are Windows 7 64bit.
Re: R Studio scans hang
What does R-Studio show on the SMART tab? Looks like the disks have hardware problems.
You may scan disks through several steps saving the results to files and then loading them.
