XRaid2 2 TB Drives

Post by phoenixam » Wed Feb 21, 2018 1:22 am

I've seen a few articles in the past mention X-Raid but haven't been able to find an update on whether it was possible to recover X-Raid2.

To my understanding, XRaid2 is either a sort of RAID5 or RAID6.

Only if it's all the same capacity disks used. If not, it's more complex. If you have 2x 2Tb drives combined with 2x 3Tb drives, it'll be something like a RAID 5 of the first 2Tb on each disk then a mirror set of the last 1Tb of the two 3Tb disks with a span created across the two virtual RAIDs.

Carving out the proper sets can be a real pain in the butt too.
