Re: Scheduling mixture of daily and weekly backups

I've been using Bourne shell scripts (under cygwin) to help out with certain tasks. Does R-Drive Image pass any sort of command line arguments to the supplied programs or batch files (e.g., filename of the backup set) to help them along? Or do I need to hardcode that information into the script?

Scheduling mixture of daily and weekly backups

I'm not entirely sure how backup images vs backup sets work, and their relation to the task scheduler. Here is what I would like to do, which I think is pretty simple:

create a new full backup of the boot drive every Monday morning at 6:00 am
create a new incremental backup of the boot drive ...

Re: Scheduled backup does not work

As I mentioned in one of my above posts, I am using build 4402 now. That seems to have fixed the problem with WER trying to report the job as a problem, but I still have to switch over to use local Administrator rather than the default "System" account that RDI suggests. It's not a big deal, now ...

Re: Scheduled backup does not work

Fiddling a bit more here... it looks like I need to set the job to run as the local Administrator account. The RDI default of using "NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM" does not seem to work. Maybe that's an XP thing? Anyway, it would be great if RDI had better error/activity reporting available, to make ...

Re: Scheduled backup does not work

I updated Drive Image to build 4402. I no longer get the WER stuff happening, but now when the scheduled task runs (whether at the appointed time or I manually invoke it), I see the r-driveimagecl.exe process appear for about 5 or 6 seconds, then it disappears again. According to the Windows event ...

Scheduled backup does not work

I'm trying to schedule an automated backup for the first time, to see how it works. I am using an existing full backup of my Vista boot drive as a test, which is named "q6600-20081127.arc". I have successfully created new differential backups (obviously named "q6600-200811272.arc" and "q6600 ...

Re: Can the System Image (C:) be restored remotely?

I'm wondering if it is possible to make a script or something that I can run (from Windows) that automates the system disk restoration process (so that I do not need to have physical access to the machine to complete my system restoration task)?
But where/how would that script run? If you need to ...

Re: Tips on creating bootable backup of Vista

So, nobody else does this? Am I the only person who uses Drive Image to backup just the boot partition, rather than the entire boot drive? Or am I the only person who expects that a backup of their boot drive is actually bootable? :D

Re: C Drive not booting after Restore

I don't think the OP's issue is with XP itself. It sounds like a boot loader problem if he's not even getting to the XP splash screen. I have the same problems when I do an initial clone of a Vista boot drive. I have to boot up with the Vista install DVD and "repair" the MBR to match the physical ...

Tips on creating bootable backup of Vista

Hi all,

I've been a very satisfied user of R-Drive Image for over a year now. I recently upgraded to 4.4, and had also recently switched from a WD Raptor 74GB boot drive to a WD 640GB boot drive (using just the outer 80 GB or so). So far so good.

What I've done in the past was clone my boot ...
