Read only folders for recovery destination

As said in title: I try to recover to any destination and they are all 'read only'. Looked through FAQ and forum quickly- hopefully an easy fix!

Please, provide us with more details: what are the software you use, its version, the OS, the file system type of the source and destination?

r-studio for Mac demo 6.3.5571
OSX 10.15.2
file source: Exfat external HD
destination: tried local Mac, external exfat and external Mac journaled

Trying to use 6.4.5871 now.

Any demo version will not allow you to save any recovered files larger than 256KB.
