Windows storage spaces pool recovery

Post by kickasskc » Tue Sep 09, 2025 6:27 am

Hello all!

My storage spaces pool is inaccessible, it consists of a 2-way mirror with 4 16tb drives making up a ~29tb mirror.

I am attempting to use Rstudio technician to recover files/data from the pool. The pool is detected under "virtual Volume Sets and RAIDs" in the "Devise/disk" section of the app. All 4 drives are detected. All drives are in good health.

Almost all the options are greyed out when i select the pool, i cannot scan or open files from the pool.

From what i have seen i think i should be creating a virtual block raid in order to access the raid/pool, is this correct? I have done so and added the 4 drives, but from here i am lost. If i clice the option to "autodetect" under Raid Parameters then the detection popup opens, begins, and seems to stop at ~130mb with a 15% detection rate.

Are there any recommendations on what i should be doing to recover this pool?

No, storage spaces aren't regular RAIDs, you can't recreate them this way.

Does it show any found partitions/disks/volumes? Can you scan it?

Thats the issue, the scanning button, along with most all other buttons are greyed out, so no i am not able to see the volume or files.
